We provide custom modification services to create products and systems designed to satisfy specific application requirements. Due to growth, we have a need for a Mechanical Design Project Engineer
Responsibilities
- Analyzes sales requests to determine systems and components needed.
- Performs Engineering review of all components for new jobs to insure proper fit.
- Prepares equipment/engineering estimates for projects/orders.
- Applies sound engineering principles to design new equipment and components.
- Manages project budgets and timelines.
- Interacts with Sales and customers to determine requirements for new products/orders. Conducts and/or participates in customer meetings/conferences.
- Interacts with vendors; prepares RFQs, researches new vendors, monitors vendor compliance.
- Responsible for all needed documentation to build, install, operate and maintain equipment (drawings, BOM, ECO, etc).
- Responsible for follow-up on all projects to insure system meets customer expectation and documentation is updated and accurate via ECO, etc.
- Develops design criteria and equipment specifications, including performance criteria, regulatory and safety.
- Troubleshoots problems on new products/order: discovers causes of non-conformance and recommends solutions to correct.
- Technically supervises and/or coordinates the work of other engineers, designers, technicians in the course on project delivery.
- Researches new trends, technologies and processes to enhance product offering.
- Propose and implement new systems and controls within engineering department.
Qualifications
- BS Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
- Minimum of five years experience in new product development with demonstrated ability to produce innovative and successful products.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and cooperatively with Sales and Manufacturing Departments.
- Strong project management and interpersonal skills to lead project teams on innovative product design and process improvements.
- Proficient in the use of SolidWorks 3 D modeling software (or equivalent) in sheet metal design. Experience with DB Works desirable.
- Familiarity for cleanroom systems a plus.
- Understanding of creative improvement processes such as LEAN manufacturing practices, etc.
- Knowledge of PLC Controls desirable.
- Hands-on Engineer.
