What is a hardwall (modular) cleanroom?
A
hardwall cleanroom — also called a modular cleanroom — is a cleanroom constructed with hard, demountable wall panels that fully enclose the space. The panels are typically made of aluminum-framed materials with cleanroom-compatible surfaces. Hardwall modular cleanrooms are extremely effective at preventing contamination from airborne particles and can be used for applications requiring precise temperature and humidity control. They are easy to assemble, reassemble, reconfigure, and expand, and are recommended for
ISO Class 5 through 8 applications.
What ISO classes are hardwall cleanrooms rated for?
Clean Air Products' hardwall modular cleanrooms are designed for
ISO Class 5 through ISO Class 8 (Federal Standard Class 100 through Class 100,000). For more demanding cleanliness requirements (ISO Class 4 and cleaner), additional engineering considerations and higher air change rates are required.

What sizes and configurations are available for hardwall cleanrooms?
Clean Air Products designs and manufactures modular hardwall cleanrooms in a range of standard sizes and configurations, as well as fully custom builds to meet your exact dimensions and layout requirements. Both recirculating and non-recirculating configurations are available.

How long does it take to install a modular hardwall cleanroom?
Clean Air Products' expert team of engineers and installation specialists can build and install a sophisticated modular hardwall cleanroom in just a few weeks. Onsite assembly of modular cleanrooms is significantly less disruptive to your day-to-day operations compared to conventional construction. Lead times vary based on size, complexity, and customization — contact us for a timeline estimate for your specific project.
Can a hardwall cleanroom be relocated or reconfigured after installation?
Yes. One of the primary advantages of
modular hardwall cleanroom construction is that the demountable wall panels and components can be disassembled, moved, and reassembled in a new location or configuration. This makes modular cleanrooms a much more flexible and cost-effective long-term investment compared to conventionally built cleanrooms, which are permanent structures.
